Your data stays on your device

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what DevsArun Extensions does — and does not do — with your data. In short: your notes, decks, bookmarks, and API key live locally on your device, and page content is sent only to the AI provider you choose.

Your key, your AI

Content goes only to the AI provider you set.

Overview

DevsArun Extensions (“the Extension”, “we”, “us”) is a browser extension that helps you learn from web content by generating summaries, notes, flashcards, quizzes, and vocabulary in your browser’s side panel. This Privacy Policy describes how the Extension handles information when you use it.

The core principle is simple: the Extension is designed to keep your data on your own device, and to send web page content only to the AI provider that you configure with your own API key.

Data we handle

The Extension processes the following types of data, only when you actively use its features:

  • Website content. When you invoke a tool (for example, “Summarize” or “Generate flashcards”), the Extension reads the text of the page you are viewing — or a YouTube video’s public transcript — so it can create study material from it.
  • Content you create. Notes, flashcard decks, quizzes, vocabulary entries, bookmarks, and review progress that you generate or save.
  • Your settings. Your preferences and your own AI provider API key.
  • Page metadata. The URL and title of a page, used to label and organize your saved items.

Where your data is stored

All of the data listed above is stored locally in your browser’s extension storage on your device. We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or syncs your notes, decks, bookmarks, browsing history, or API key.

You can export a full backup of your data (for example, as JSON) at any time, and you can delete it by clearing the Extension’s data or removing the Extension.

Third-party AI providers

To generate study material, the Extension sends the relevant page content to the AI provider you choose — such as Groq or Google Gemini — using the API key you supply. This request is made directly from your browser to that provider.

Your use of a third-party AI provider is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them:

We do not receive a copy of the content you send to these providers.

Permissions we use

The Extension requests only the permissions needed for its single purpose — helping you learn from web content:

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties, outside the AI provider you choose.
  • We do not use or transfer your data for purposes unrelated to the Extension’s single purpose.
  • We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
  • We do not run analytics that track your browsing history, and we do not maintain a server that stores your personal content.

  • Access & export: Export your data at any time from the Extension’s settings.
  • Delete: Clear the Extension’s stored data or uninstall the Extension to remove everything from your device.
  • Choice of provider: You decide which AI provider to use and can remove your API key anytime.

Children’s privacy

The Extension is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
